Gif Making for the Technologically Challenged

Making a gif from pictures is simple, just upload the snapshots to a gif maker such as imgflig.com
This is one I made yesterday

Making a gif from a video requires more steps, I'm sure there is an easier way to do it but this is how I figured out how to do it for myself and it works

1-Find the video you want to make the gif from. Download to your computer with Keepvid
2-Open Windows Movie Maker or whatever software you can use to make videos. Upload the video to WMM.
3-Crop the part of the video you would like to make into a gif. Keep it short, less than 4 seconds. To crop you need to go to "edit" and set the "start" and "end" point.
4-Save your project
5-Sign up for Youtube if you don't have it. Upload your shortened video to Youtube.
6-Youtube will process the video. ****sidenote****Videos from WMM save as a .wmlp file. To create a gif you need to convert .wmlp to .mp4 files.
7-Go to "Video Manager" in Youtube and click on download to mp4 on the video you just uploaded. (You can only download 2 vids per hr on YT). Your video will now be downloaded as an .mp4 file.
8-Go to imgflip.com or a gif creator that can upload videos. Upload the .mp4 file and voila a gif!

So a short clip goes from this to
this
